I think all of us have heard about rice water at least once. Every YouTuber and natural hair influencer flaunts it online and swears by it, but do you really know that much about it? Lucky for you, this blog post is here to give you a crash course about what rice water can do for you and the prosperities it contains.
Rice Water contains vitamins B, C, and E. These nutrients are great for hair growth.
That's right! Rice Water is a powerhouse for all of the nutrients that help your hair grow.
Vitamin B plays a key role in producing red blood cells that carry oxygen to our scalp. This helps us create more hair follicles, which in turn, makes our hair grow. Biotin is one B-Vitamin in particular that is great for your hair and skin, which is why it's commonly seen in many hair growth/skin pills.
Vitamin C helps create a protein called collagen. Collagen is essential to hair growth. Vitamin C also promotes hair health and reduces hair loss. So not only is your hair growing, you're losing less of it!
Vitamin E helps build a strong foundation by maintaining a healthy scalp. Without the proper base, your hair can't grow. It does this by reducing oxidative stress and preserving the protective lipid layer.
Rice Water helps to detangle hair, increase shine, & makes hair smoother.
Rice Water is created by soaking rice over an extended period of time (usually 12-24 hours). The leftover water becomes a starchy substance that coats your hair in protein, making it smoother, healthier, and shinier.
The amino acids in rice water help to regenerate hair and aids in faster hair growth.
Now the question is, what are amino acids and which ones are in Rice Water?
Amino acids are considered to be the building blocks of protein. As of right now, there are twenty amino acids that exist, but Rice Water only contains four essential ones. Those would be: tryptophan, valine, lysine, and phenylalanine.
Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that is most commonly known for promoting growth in infants, but it's also important for maintaining the body's proteins, muscles, enzymes and neurotransmitters. Now this one isn't something that the body naturally produces, so it has to be acquired through your diet or by what you use.
Valine is commonly known for increasing endurance and energy, but it also increases growth hormone production, which is great for hair growth.
Lysine helps build proteins in the body, which is incredibly important if you want your hair to grow. This is another amino acid that can't be naturally produced by the body, so it has to be consumed through your diet.
Phenylalanine is another building block that helps create proteins in the body and its crucial for the creation for the production of other molecules. The human body doesn't produce enough of this amino acid, so this is another one that must be acquired through your diet.
Let's Wrap It Up!
So now that you know a little bit about Rice Water, you can make an informed decision the next time you decide purchase a bottle.

Results matter. We understand there are quite a few options out there to choose from when you are looking for length retention or to target a pain point and provide you with results.
Each case is different and each product is not created equally. It is always a rule of thumb to lean toward products that contain the basic ingredients that you already are familiar with and look for something new and innovative. The percentages also matter and that comes down to formulation.

Hair porosity means how well moisture penetrates the cuticle. There are three different porosity levels your hair can fall into and keep in mind, you can have a combination of the three in different parts of your hair too.
This is also key to help know what types of products you should buy. Hair texture is not the way to figure out your hair needs. Now you have a foundation for how to kick start your hair journey the right way. When you know better you do better!
